★★☆☆☆

The 'deaf' element is the only element that saves this story from utter banality. However, the film has been produced effectively on what I assume must be a student filmmaker budget. The script structure is textbook (albeit cliché), the actors give it their all, and the cinematography is well considered. All in all, a simple, clear-cut film, thoroughly lacking in originality, and too dependent on its score.

An intimate rendering of a young mother on the brink of self-destruction. The narrative is convincingly unfolded by means of a detailed, authentic screenplay. It does a masterful job of warming us to the characters and capturing the intensity of the mother's dilemma. The camerawork is too messy at times, and the pacing could be tighter. However, as a whole this film is dynamite; emotional and provocative.

A heart-warming meandering, unveiled through cute and cheeky animations and tender narration. It feels like a cosy bedtime story, but shown through a unique lens. Eccentricity is the heart and soul of this film. It's all very lovely to watch but, ultimately, the story is too vague for my liking. The cheerful music and tender voiceover effectively mask the story's lack of focus.
